Dire Straits publicará su caja el próximo día 3 de noviembre de 2023 por UMC/Mercury. “Dire Straits – Live 1978-1992”, es una caja con 12 vinilos y 8 CDs con directos de Dire Straits, una banda que tuvo una posición preeminente en los años ochenta y noventa en todo el mundo con su sofisticado rock de guitarra de raíces unido a unas cultas letras que narraban historias.

Surgieron en el circuito de pubs y clubs en 1977, Dire Straits tenía como líder al carismático cantante y compositor de Newcastle, el productor y compositor Mark Knopfler, uno de los músicos con más éxito que haya dado Reino Unido y que es frecuentemente citado como uno de los guitarristas más grandes de la historia. El sonido de Dire Straits definió los últimos años de los 70 y los 80 con éxitos como ‘Sultans Of Swing’, ‘Romeo And Juliet’, ‘Money For Nothing’ y ‘Walk Of Life’. El álbum de 1985 de Dire Straits Brothers In Arms, un número uno global y doble ganador de un Grammy, es uno de los álbumes más vendidos en el mundo. Después de sacar su último disco On Every Street en el año 91 y de la gira de 1992, Knopfler dejó Dire Straits en 1995 y emprendió un nuevo camino en solitario.

Dire Straits Live 1978-1992 incluye las nuevas versiones nuevamente remasterizadas de los clásicos álbumes de los Dire Straits en directo Alchemy (84) y On The Night (93), Encores EP (93), Live At The BBC (95) y el concierto Live From The Rainbow Theatre de 1979 que no ha sido editado anteriormente, y captura el emocionante rock de la banda tocado con una asombrosa virtuosidad desde sus primeras grabaciones en directo para la BBC en el año 78, hasta sus últimos conciertos en el año 92 en On The Night.

La versión expandida del disco doble original Alchemy incluirá temas no editados anteriormente, desde ‘Industrial Disease’ y ‘Twisting By The Pool’, así como ‘Love Over Gold’ y las versiones extendidas de ‘Telegraph Road’, ‘Solid Rock’, ‘Going Home’ y ‘Portobello Belle’.
